VEGF165 is a potent pro‑angiogenic factor that stimulates endothelial cell proliferation and survival, promotes angiogenesis, and increases vascular permeability. VEGF165 is expressed in all vascularized tissues and plays an important role in both physiological and pathological angiogenesis.
VEGF165 is functionally similar to VEGF121, but differs in that VEGF121 does not bind to cell‑surface heparin sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) and exists mostly in a soluble form. In contrast, VEGF165 can bind to NRP‑1 and NRP‑2, enabling it to additionally regulate arteriogenesis and modulate the function of venous and lymphatic endothelial cells.
VEGF165 stimulates endothelial cell proliferation and increases vascular endothelial permeability. Upon binding to its receptors, VEGF165 preferentially activates the MEK/ERK signaling pathway to induce endothelial cell proliferation.
This product is expressed in HEK293 cells and carries a His‑tag at the C‑terminus.
