Recombinant hyaluronidase is expressed in Pichia pastoris. It belongs to Class III hyaluronidase and is a β-N-acetylglucosaminidase endonuclease. It can catalyze the hydrolysis of the β-1,4 glycosidic bond of hyaluronic acid, producing the final product with the reducing end of N-acetamido glucose. The enzyme has a high substrate adaptability and can hydrolyze chondroitin, chondroitin sulfate and dermatin sulfate in addition to hyaluronic acid.
